    About IVECO

IVECO Group, formerly IVECO Trucks, is a major manufacturer of day cab tractor units, tractors with sleepers, panel vans, tippers, and rigid trucks of all descriptions. Its commercial vehicles roster over the years has included such iconic models as the DAILY, Eurocargo, STRALIS, and TRAKKER. The company embraces biofuels and alternative fuels, and offers gas, electric, and hybrid-powered versions of its vehicles.

    Light- & Medium-Duty Model Ranges

The current and recent ranges of IVECO models include some longtime standbys as well as worthy successors to legacy favorites.

The ubiquitous IVECO DAILY currently comes in van and chassis cab form; Hi-Matic models with an eight-speed automatic transmission, Blue Power models that run on compressed natural gas (CNG), 7-Tonne workhorses; and an off-road 4x4 model. Gross vehicle weights for current DAILY models include 3.3- to 7.2-tonne (3.6- to 7.9-U.S.-ton) units. The DAILY’s FIA and FIC engines span a 116- to 210-horsepower (86.5- to 157-kilowatt) power spectrum.

    IVECO DAILY 7-Tonne Crew Cab

The EUROCARGO medium-duty truck covers the 6.5- to 18-t (7.2- to 19.8-U.S.-t) GVW sector with 4x2 drive or 11.5- to 15-t (12.7- to 16.5-U.S.-t) with its 4x4 off-road models. Tector 5 and 7 engine options come in 160- to 320-HP (119- to 239-kW) power levels.

    Heavy Model Ranges

The retired but plentiful STRALIS range of on-road tractors and rigids started at 18 t. It came in two, three, or four-axled versions with all-wheel or two-wheel drive, as well as in ECOSTRALIS form. Engine options included the Cursor 8, 10, 12, and 13 with power ratings from 310 to 560 HP (231 to 418 kW).

On-road S-WAY (2019) tractors and rigids replaced the STRALIS series in 2019. The technologically advanced S-WAY relies on Cursor 9, 11, and 13 engines of 340 to 560 HP (254 to 418 kW), including a natural gas-powered model. S-WAYs handle the 18-t and heavier over-the-road weight classes for IVECO.

The TRAKKER heavy-duty range embodied IVECO’s off-road models for a good number of years. Its varied ranks included 41-t (45-U.S.-t) rigids (mainly tipper trucks) and even 150-t (165-U.S.-t) heavy-haul tractors. Typical power plants for the series included Cursor 8 and 13 engines from 306 to 493 HP (228 to 368 kW).

The TRAKKER’s successor, the T-WAY, is a 40-t (44-U.S.-t) heavy truck made for extreme off-road duty. IVECO’s Hi-Traction system automatically provides hydraulic front-wheel assistance to the rear-wheel-drive truck as needed. At this writing, the T-WAY comes with Cursor 9 and 13 engines ranging from 340 to 510 HP (254 to 380 kW).

The IVECO X-WAY, sometimes referred to as the STRALIS X-WAY, is an 18+ t (19.8+ U.S. t) on-road heavy truck with light “last-mile” off-roading capabilities and the HI-TRACTION system. The X-WAY also comes in a high-payload Super Loader mixer version. Three Cursor 9, 11, 13 engine options furnish 330 to 570 HP (246 to 425 kW), including a natural gas version.

IVECO also produces Minibus models and various motorhomes based on DAILY and EUROCARGO chassis.

    IVECO Over The Years

IVECO—the Industrial VEhicles COrporation—was founded in 1975 with the combination of five Italian, French, and German companies including Fiat Industrial Vehicles, Unic, Magirus-Deutz, OM, and Lancia Special Vehicles. Its light-duty bestseller, the DAILY, made its debut in 1978. IVECO entered the heavy on-road commercial vehicle market in 1984 with the TurboStar, which it marketed throughout Italy and Europe.

In 1985, IVECO introduced the first direct-injection diesel engine for light-duty vehicles. The company followed up four years later with the first light-duty diesel engine with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) as an emissions-cutting measure.

IVECO released its EURO range in the early 1990s, including models such as the Euro, Eurocargo, EuroTech cab chassis trucks, EuroTrakker, and EuroStar. In 1995, its EuroClass HD bus won a Coach of the Year award from the automotive press.

IVECO’s Cursor 8 diesel engines arrived in 1998 with a variable-geometry turbine. The heavy commercial vehicle segment got its first common-rail diesel motor in the new Cursor 10 engine.

The manufacturer launched a new Daily City van in 1999. Three years later, it introduced the STRALIS with an Active Space cab. In 2004, the company formed Iveco Motors with Aifo. The EcoDaily debuted with a new look and a new engine in 2009, with a focus on a low environmental footprint and cost-efficiency. The STRALIS Hi-Way launched in 2012 and won "Truck of The Year" the following year. IVECO’s NEW DAILY was named "International Van of the Year" in 2015.

IVECO Trucks changed its name to IVECO Group in fall 2021 ahead of a spinoff from CNH Industrial. IVECO Group’s current companies include bus and coach brands Heuliez and IVECO BUS; armoured and amphibious military vehicle manufacturer IVECO Defence Vehicles; large-scale, heavy-duty, quarry and construction vehicle concern ASTRA; and firefighting vehicle and equipment maker Magirus.
