Read More (Skeletal Trailers)New and used skeletal trailers provide a basic lightweight chassis intended mainly for hauling containers. They are generally affordable, durable, and available in fixed and extendable models. Fixed skeletal trailers are particularly useful for organizations that frequently transport containers of roughly the same size and weight. These trailers are flexible, however, and can be customized to handle special loads, such as paper rolls, steel coils, and canisters.
Extendable skeletal trailers can be more expensive than fixed models, but they offer additional flexibility to accommodate other tasks. Retractable skeleton trailers typically can be extended to various lengths or completely retracted, which is useful for carrying multiple containers of various sizes at the same time. Another type, called rolling or roll-back skeletal trailers, provide a frame that’s built for rolling containers forward or back during loading and unloading. Tipper models are also available.
Prominent European manufacturers of skeletal trailers include Dennison, Fruehauf, KRONE, Montracon, Mueller Mitteltal, SDC, Schmitz, and Sommer.
