High-Quality Trailers Keep Arthur Oakley A Loyal Schmitz Cargobull Customer For Over A Decade

As Schmitz Cargobull knows, customer loyalty says a lot about the quality of a manufacturer’s products. If a product is faulty or poorly constructed, buyers won’t return. When a buyer returns again and again for over 12 years, however, it’s safe to assume the company is doing something right.

Hereford-based Arthur Oakley Transport recently purchased a new Schmitz Cargobull S.CS Coil X-Light semitrailer and liked it enough that they soon returned for a second curtainsider for pallet deliveries, as well as a new S.CS Freepost. The new trailers join a fleet of 25 vehicles and 20 trailers. The transport company has been buying Schmitz Cargobull trailers for over 12 years.

    Improving Deliveries

Palletways member Arthur Oakley Transport’s core business is heavy steel roll delivery to steelworks throughout the UK. The haulier uses its new S.CS Freepost on multidrop routes across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Its prime benefit is easy side-loading with a bolted, galvanised steel cant rail, fixed aluminium roof, and reinforced chassis structure.

The S.CS Coil X-Light has a reduced unladen weight compared to its traditional counterpart, allowing for a greater payload and better fuel efficiency. The trailer’s rapid roof lift hastens loading and unloading using the full interior height.

“We continue to be highly impressed by the quality of Schmitz Cargobull’s trailers—the first S.CS Coil X-Light just blew us away,” says Steve Underwood, transport manager at Arthur Oakley Transport. “When we wanted to add a curtainsider to manage our pallet delivery service, we looked no further than Schmitz Cargobull and chose the S.CS Freepost. It’s very robust and fits the bill perfectly.”

    About Schmitz Cargobull’s S.CS Coil X-Light

S.CS Coil curtainsider semitrailers are ideal for steel coils or split strips and their ability to cover the coil well allows them to transport other goods, making them versatile additions to a fleet. Buyers can customise the trailer with multiple options for the body, the roof, the floor, and the rear of the trailer.

Other options include a power curtain or dropsides, a tail lift, a double wing door, a lifting roof, and more. Adding the X-Light package increases the trailer’s payload and efficiency by giving it a reduced unladen weight with fewer parts constructed of light materials with an adapted design.

    About The S.CS Freepost

The S.CS Freepost has a rolled, galvanised Modulos chassis with high corrosion protection and an aluminium roof with a steel outer beam that allows for a lateral loading height of up to 3.2 metres (10.5 feet). For load security, the trailer has flexible points with continuous lashing holes with the option of 16 pairs of 4-tonne (4.4-U.S.-ton) lashing rings.

The body’s stable side curtains have integrated theft protection, Tyride curtain locks, and tensioning devices at both the front and rear that enable side loading and unloading without sliding.
