The New Generation DAF XF has been awarded “Green Truck 2023” by the leading German magazines VerkehrsRundschau and Trucker. The prestigious award acknowledges industry-leading transport efficiency and fuel performance.
Each year, VerkehrsRundschau and Trucker perform a comprehensive comparison test with tractor units of all leading makes. The primary measurement focus is on fuel consumption, which directly translates into CO2 emissions. In addition, AdBlue consumption and the average speed achieved during the test were taken into account when awarding the “Green Truck 2023.”
Ultra-Low Diesel Consumption
The New Generation DAF XF with its 330 kW/450 hp PACCAR MX-11 engine outperformed the competition on the extensive German test route with an ultra-low diesel consumption of 21.26 l/100 km—the equivalent of 675 grams of CO2 per kilometre—and an AdBlue consumption of only 1.32 l/100 km. Average speed was an excellent 80.06 kilometres per hour.
Optimal Aerodynamics
“DAF has gained a competitive advantage due to the fact that it is the only manufacturer so far to implement the new dimension regulations for trucks in Europe,” explains Jan Burgdorf, head of the Test & Technology department for the magazines VerkehrsRundschau and Trucker. “The new rules allow for an elongated front for optimal aerodynamics, which enhances DAF’s class-leading fuel consumption.”
Patrick Dean, member of the DAF Board of Management and Chief Engineer: “That the New Generation XF 450 has been awarded Green Truck 2023 is a fantastic achievement and acknowledgement of the hard work carried out by the entire team at DAF. Our New Generation trucks have not only set a new benchmark when it comes to fuel efficiency but also offer market-leading safety and driver comfort, making them the ultimate trucks for both driver and owner. With the Green Truck Award, the series proves that DAF is a true environmental leader as well.”
