McBurney Transport of Ballymena, Northern Ireland, recently expanded its trailer fleet with the addition of 30 new Aluminium Boxvan trailers from SDC. The logistics firm says the investment will increase efficiency for its operations throughout the UK, Ireland, and Europe.
Addition By Addition
McBurney Transport Group was founded in 1965 and has eight locations in Northern Ireland, Ireland, England, and Scotland, including a 25,000-pallet cold store in Liverpool. The company will soon become part of Danish shipping and logistics company DFDS. McBurney says the move will expand its network by joining one of the largest global transportation groups. DFDS is headquartered in Copenhagen and operates 30 routes for ferry and logistics services with a staff of 11,000 in 20 countries.
"We are very pleased with the new trailers from SDC Trailers," says Norman McBurney, founder of McBurney Transport, "The advanced features and high-quality construction will help us to improve our operational efficiency and better serve our customers. The Boxvan trailers will join our modern fleet of over 1,300 trailers."
The Aluminium Boxvan
The Boxvan has three BPW Eco Air axles with low maintenance drum brakes and a roll stability braking system, internal load restraint rails, and steel-reinforced flooring for durability. McBurney’s trailers have a lightweight, sturdy design with a double-skin alloy plank body, a double-insulated roof, and LED and ISO regulation lighting for security and insulation. The Boxvan is available with an aluminium or translucent roof and can be fitted with internal security mesh to prevent access to the trailer through the roof. SDC also offers a choice of hinged or roller shutter rear doors or a tail lift rear door and either a straight or step-frame design.
