Recent upgrades to Renault Trucks’ Range T series got the attention of Brian Pirie, director of GIF Transport and Logistics Ltd, and the Aberdeenshire-based haulage specialist recently added two T520 High models to its 14-strong fleet. The new T520 Highs are the first Renault Trucks purchased by GIF Transport.
“With all the updates and upgrades, including the impressive steering wheel modification, the T520 Highs are totally different trucks and, as I needed a benchmark to compare the rest of the fleet, I decided to take on a demo vehicle,” explains Pirie. “The T520 High slotted seamlessly into our operation and, following this successful trial, we placed the order with Renault Trucks Scotland.”
About The T520
GIF Transport’s T520 Highs are designed with operator comfort in mind. To start, there’s the luxury driver’s seat and a leather steering wheel. The trucks also include the Roadpad+ navigation and entertainment system, which is easily operated from the multimedia display. Features like the fixed roof air deflector and two side deflectors increase fuel efficiency as the trucks drive across Europe.
Range T Options
Renault Range Ts are long-distance trucks available with a wide range of day and sleeper cabs and in 4x2 or 6x2 axle configurations. Operators can configure the Range T with either a DE 11 or DE 13 engine featuring patented Wave Piston technology, Renault’s new Turbo Compound tech, and other refinements that collectively help reduce fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions by as much as 10%. The T520 trucks in GIF Transport’s fleet are equipped with DE 13 engines.
Pirie says T520 trucks have made a positive impression early on. “Introducing a new vehicle manufacturer into the fleet is always a slightly apprehensive time,” he says. “And although it’s still early days, we are very impressed; the driver is very happy and the fuel consumption is good so far.”
