Recycling Lives, a waste recycling specialist based in Preston, recently deployed its new Renault Trucks E-Tech D18 Wide, a 100% electric skip transporter. A second E-Tech D18 Wide will arrive in the near future and will also be based at the company’s 15-acre Preston Recycling Park. The electric skip truck is the first in the UK and can complete a full day’s work on a single charge. The electric skip trucks are a first step in the efforts of Recycling Lives to decarbonise its operations. The company plans to eventually replace all diesel-powered vehicles in its fleet with electric. The Renault trucks will be used in daily operations and will service both commercial and household clients.
About The Renault E-Tech D Wide
With zero tailpipe emissions and low traffic noise, the E-Tech is well-suited to operation in urban areas where noise pollution and carbon emissions are tightly regulated. The E-Tech D is powered by a 265-kilowatt-hour battery and is equipped with a 22-kilowatt on-board AC charger. The battery is compatible with DC fast-charging up to 150 kW to extend the operation range.
“This transition to electric skip trucks is just another example of our commitment to environmental innovation,” says Recycling Lives CEO Gerry Marshall. “As part of our decarbonisation strategy, we are looking to further reduce our carbon footprint by using more sustainable fuel solutions, this could include for example green hydrogen which is part of our Energy from Waste project.
Zero-Carbon Transport
“It’s been fantastic to work with Renault Trucks on such a critical product and we would like to thank them for all their support. Moving towards zero-carbon transport solutions is a huge business priority, so we’re looking forward to getting these UK-first electric skip trucks on the road.”
