Mercedes-Benz’s construction-focused Arocs series continue to be the trucks of choice for ready-mix concrete specialist Minecrete. The firm recently ordered two new Arocs 3243 concrete mixers to help meet the rising demand for concrete; the trucks are currently undergoing inspection and maintenance at local dealer eStar Truck & Van, and will soon be put to work on the in-development HS2 high-speed rail link through Staffordshire and Cheshire.
An Admirable Worker
Minecrete reports that Arocs trucks with the firm’s distinctive pink Liebherr drums make up the majority of its mixer fleet.
“The Arocs does the job admirably,” says Transport Manager Paul Mullington. “The truck is reliable, fuel-efficient, and popular with our drivers, who are familiar with and know how to get the best out of it, thanks not least to the training we give them. Against this backdrop, and given the relative proximity of its Dealer’s workshop, Mercedes-Benz was the obvious candidate with which to partner.”
The new Arocs will be Mincrete’s first from eStar Truck & Van; the dealer is the latest member of the Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK network.
All About The Arocs
Mercedes’ Arocs range of 18- to 41-tonne (20- to 45-U.S.-ton) construction trucks includes tractors, rigids, dump trucks, and concrete mixers like Mincrete’s latest Arocs. The manufacturer offers a variety of cab and axle configurations from 4x2 to 8x8. The 8x4 Arocs soon join Mincrete’s fleet are spec’d with ClassicSpace M-cabs and 428-horsepower (315-kilowatt) engines.
“We also specified the same engine for the three 32-tonne mixers we acquired in 2019,” Mullington says. “I believe it is better-suited to the hilly terrain in this area, and when driven correctly more economical than the 400-HP alternative.”
