London-Based Mr Plant Hire Takes Delivery Of Renault Trucks C430 Featuring New Company Livery

Although Mr Plant Hire has provided tools and machinery to London-area customers in the construction, maintenance, and mechanical and electrical industries for more than 40 years, recent developments have introduced a sense of newness to the firm. For one, it recently added a new Renault Trucks C430 8x2 tag truck with Sterling beavertail body that’s now the flagship of its eight-vehicle fleet. Additionally, the 430-horsepower (316-kilowatt) C430 boasts the company’s new dark-blue and yellow branding. Furthermore, in early 2023, the firm will acquire its first 44-tonne (48.5-U.S.-ton) Renault T460 6x2 mid-lift tractor with low loader, and will follow that up with a Renault Trucks D18 4x2 rigid beavertail truck.

“The plant hire sector is very competitive, and although we’re small compared to some, after 40 years in business, we’re still standing proud and delivering for our customers,” says Mr Plant Hire Transport Manager Oliver Simpson. “The new C430 is not only a real head-turner, it’s a great performer, reliable, and is keeping our driver very happy.”

    Freshening Things Up

Norfolk Truck & Van supplied the C430, which Mr Plant Hire took on in a like-for-like replacement arrangement as part of a five-year renewal programme. The truck’s 11-litre DTi engine delivers maximum power between 1,700 and 1,900 rpm, and generates a maximum of 2,050 newton-metres (1,512 pounds-foot) of torque between 1,000 and 1,400 rpm. Also onboard are an Optidriver AT 2612 direct gearbox with automatic clutch, rear steer, and a rear air suspension, which allows for height adjustments when entering jobsites with awkward road conditions or when picking up an oddly shaped machine. The exterior includes a LightFix six-spot lightbar and twin air horns.

“Our latest addition to the fleet is the first in our company’s new branding, which our new managing director, Steven King, has brought in to freshen things up, and it looks great,” Simpson says. “The new C430 has been on the road for a few weeks, and our driver, Perry, is delighted with it. He’s out cleaning it every day; it’s his pride and joy.”

    “The Most Comfortable Truck”

Renault Trucks Range C is also available with 13-L diesel engines. Rated power across the 11- and 13-L options ranges from 380 to 520 HP (280 to 382 kW). Range C trucks are also available with a mechanical rear suspension, and can be equipped with a front-located steel protective shield for off-road use or a plastic shield for road use. Driver assistance features include options for up to four cameras for reversing and lateral visibility, line-crossing warning, automatic emergency braking, and hill start assistance.

“The new C430 gives a good performance and our driver, who is out in it all day, says it is probably the most comfortable truck he’s driven,” Simpson says.
