Agricultural haulier Keyo saw Daf’s New Generation XG at a launch event held at Motus Commercials, and although the firm typically operates non-Daf trucks, the XG build quality and high-end specifications sparked a conversation with the dealer.
“They had delivery lead times that put Daf very much in the frame,” says Josh Van Den Bos, welfare and compliance manager at Keyo. “We made the decision to place an order there and then.”
After the first set of Daf XG 530 FTG tractors arrived, operators were so impressed with the three-axle trucks that Keyo ordered two more.
Up To The Challenge
“We easily cover 70,000 kilometres per year in each wagon, and the new Dafs provide a great working environment for our drivers,” Van Den Bos says. “When you’re covering those distances, you need to be confident in the reliability and build quality of your truck. The cab size is exceptional, as are the internal and external technology features. We couldn’t be happier with the quality of the XG.”
Daf’s New Generation XG offers drivers 11.85 cubic metres (418 cubic feet) of interior space with a standing height of just over 2 metres (6.5 feet). Keyo’s XG tractors also include the Daf Digital Vision System (DDVS), which replaces the primary and wide-angle mirrors with high-mounted retractable cameras.
The New Generation XG
The New Generation XG is available with PACCAR MX-11 or MX-13 engines ranging in rated power from 449 to 530 horsepower (330 to 390 kilowatts). The 530-HP engine specified by Keyo delivers 2,700 newton-metres (1,991 pounds-foot) of torque in top gear. "The performance of the XG is outstanding," adds Van Den Bos. The XG can be configured as a tractor or a rigid, with either 4x2 or 6x2 axle configurations.
