TIER Mobility, a Berlin-based provider of e-scooters and e-mopeds, recently signed a framework agreement with MAN Truck & Bus for the delivery of MAN eTGE electric vans to support TIER’s operations in 13 countries throughout Europe, including Germany, France, Great Britain, Poland, Austria, Norway, Sweden, and the Netherlands. The first vehicles were distributed in London and in several locations throughout Germany.
TIER uses the battery-electric transporters primarily for changing the batteries in its fleet of electric scooters without producing local emissions. The batteries are fully charged in the TIER depot, or in some locations, at a decentralised charging and exchange station and taken to the scooters to be exchanged on-site with the help of the eTGE. The vans are also used to transport scooters for service and repairs.
"The MAN eTGE electric transporters represent an important brick in the conversion of our service fleet to electric vehicles,” says Maximilian Djacic, project manager operations vehicles at TIER Mobility. “Thanks to the high payload and range of the e-transporter, our employees can transport everything they need for the daily operation of our multimodal fleet and also get through city traffic quickly and efficiently."
About The eTGE
The MAN TGE 3.140 E, or eTGE for short, offers 10.7 cubic metres (378 cubic feet) of load space and a payload of just under 1 tonne (1.1 U.S. tons). The van can charge from zero to 80% in 45 minutes with up to 40 kilowatts of direct current, and its batteries have an 8-year or 160,000-kilometre (99,420-mile) warranty. The eTGE also comes with safety features such as Emergency Brake Assist, a rearview camera, and Side Wall Protection Assist, features that are beneficial in congested urban areas.
