Westbourne Motors has more than 250 commercial vehicles in its fleet, and the breakdown recovery specialist recently expanded its vehicle recovery fleet with the acquisition of six new Isuzu N75.190 crew cab trucks. The company selected Isuzu’s 7.5-tonne (8.3-U.S.-ton) vehicles due in part to its experience with two Isuzus purchased in 2015.
“When we were looking for an alternative supplier for these latest 7.5-tonne fleet additions, we decided to specify Isuzu on the strength of their overall performance and reliability in our existing fleet, as our first two Isuzu 7.5-tonne twin decks, that we acquired back in 2015, are still working well for us on a daily basis,” says Westbourne Motors Director Richard Colburn.
Built To Recover
Westbourne Motors purchased the new Isuzus through southeast dealer MC Truck and Bus, working carefully to specify vehicles that would meet the firm’s particular needs. All six new trucks feature Predator slide bed recovery bodies from specialist manufacturer JJ Conversions. Westbourne Motors expects each Isuzu to cover 100,000 kilometres (62,137 miles) per year and anticipates running the trucks for at least seven years.
“During the vehicle acquisition programme, we received excellent service from MC Trucks, who kept us fully informed throughout the complete build programme,” Colburn says.
The N75.190 Crew Cab
Isuzu’s N75.190 is a 4x2 rigid chassis with a maximum trailer weight of 3,500 kilograms (7,716 pounds). The crew cab model is powered by a 4HK1E6-E Isuzu turbo intercooled OHC four-cylinder diesel engine compliant with Euro 6 emission standards. Isuzu’s N75.190 trucks can be further specified to include box column, box tuckaway, chassis cab, curtainside tuckaway, dropside, and tipper bodies. Isuzu rates the truck’s engine for 140 kilowatts (190 horsepower) at 2,600 rpm. The overall length of the N75.190 can be built to 7,870 millimetres (310 inches).
