Tesco has operated more than 5,000 IVECO Daily chassis cabs in its delivery fleet since 2010, and the supermarket giant recently acquired 645 more. The first 45 were delivered to Tesco in February, and IVECO says the other 600 will arrive throughout 2021.
"Supermarkets like Tesco have been especially important over the past year, adapting to meet incredible demands, and IVECO vans are ideally able to support and continue this mission," says IVECO UK Light Business-Line Director Mike Cutts.
The New Fleet
Tesco’s Daily 35S14 vans come with an eight-speed Hi-Matic gearbox and a 136-horsepower (100-kilowatt) engine. Each is fitted with a climate-controlled body to maintain cold temperatures for grocery delivery. Tesco configured the vans with IVECO’s Digital Pack, which includes the Hi-Connect touchscreen, a reverse warning alarm, and the Connectivity box. The latter gives Tesco the ability to monitor vehicle performance and access over-the-air updates. The vans are unmistakable in Tesco’s blue livery, complete with imagery promoting the retailer’s fresh produce.
