In the last year, arboriculture and land management firm Maydencroft Ltd has received a combined 13 Isuzu Grafter trucks. Nine trucks were added in 2020 with four more in early 2021 to bring the company’s total to 21 Isuzus between the 7.5- and 3.5-tonne variants in the fleet. The most recent additions include two arb tipper vehicles and eleven Grafter Utilitruck models.
The Right Specs
The new Grafter N35.125s will cover around 20,000 kilometres (12,427 miles) per year for a minimum of four years in the fleet. Currently the trucks are deployed on a variety of contracts and locations from Barnard Castle in the North to Brighton in the South. The Grafters are often towing trailers fitted with wood-chipping equipment that feeds into the main body. The trucks were chosen for their manoeuvrability, light weight, and substantial payload, all of which Maydencroft says make them ideal for the tree surgery division.
“Unbelievably Good”
“The initial eight Isuzus did really well for us as they proved to have a great turning circle and excellent payload,” says Maydencroft Ltd MD Tom Williams. “We have been particularly impressed with the overall performance from the new Grafter range at 3.5 t. These trucks are unbelievably good, we do use them to tow 2.7-t diggers, and we can still get a 1-t payload on the back of the Grafters, even when towing. No other truck can fulfil this criteria, which is why we have now made such a significant investment in Grafters over the last 12 months.”
