Trailer manufacturer Nooteboom has updated its SMART low-loader semi-trailer range with the addition of the lightweight, three-axle OSDS-48-03V. The new trailer features a hydraulic gooseneck ramp, an extendable loading floor, and tracking steered axles. Those features and others make the trailer ideal for transporting construction and road construction equipment and aerial platforms up to 36 tonnes, Nooteboom says.
Easy Loading & Unloading
Nooteboom’s new offering combines what the company says is an optimal inclination angle with a specially adapted gooseneck. The pairing makes it easy and safe for operators to drive construction machines and aerial work platforms up onto the gooseneck, making it easier to leverage the entire length of the trailer when transporting loads.
Ramping Up
The trailer’s ramps operate hydraulically, and they’re available in numerous lengths and designs, including a special version with a sharp ramp point and extra grip on the chassis parts. Measuring 5,000 millimetres long, the ramps have a long loading surface chamber and roughly 9-degree inclination angle, which Nooteboom says is beneficial for loading machines with limited ground clearance. Operators can adjust the ramps’ width hydraulically, thus helping in loading and unloading of small, narrow machines. They can also be extended outside the standard loading surface width to accommodate loading wide machines. A radio-controlled electric winch is also available to load nonfunctioning aerial platforms.
