Express Distribution Services (E.D.S.), a Pallet Freight Haulier based in Craigavon in Northern Ireland that has been in business since 1997, recently added 15 new SDC trailers to its fleet. Five of the new trailers are step-frame Double-Deck Curtainsiders and the rest are Freespan Curtainsiders. The double-decks feature three-quarter fixed decks that increase the number of pallets that can be carried. They are also lightweight and aerodynamic, which SDC says leads to “cleaner, green, and more cost-effective operation.” E.D.S. spec’d its Double-Deck Curtainsiders with tracking devices to ensure deliveries are on schedule.
SDC Freespan Curtainsider
SDC’s Freespan Curtainsider trailer is an EN 12642-XL-rated trailer with a maximum payload capacity of 29,000 kilograms. The trailer has a robotically welded chassis and a bolt-on body made form high-tensile steel for improved strength and durability. It also benefits from SDC’s low-friction alloy roof rail with easy-roll technology that allows the curtains to move more smoothly along the rail. Other features include a wind deflector, a branch guard, extra storage, rear buffers, and LED lights.
SDC manufactures a number of other curtainside trailer models, as well, including the aforementioned Double-Deck, Extra Length, Urban, Mega, Coilwell, Sliding Body, Euroliner, and Insuliner Curtainsiders.
Well-Built & Durable
“SDC trailers have served our pallet freight services extremely well over the years, and I am pleased to welcome the new Curtainsiders which will enhance our next-day deliveries in Ireland and the West Midlands, as well as two-day services across the UK,” says Express Distribution Services MD David Neill. “Quality equipment is crucial to ensure E.D.S. operations run smoothly and SDC offers the best with regards to trailer design, build, and durability. I am confident that this investment will enhance and strengthen our business for many years to come.”
