Harlow-Based Fuel Distributor Acquires DAF CF 340 FAN Tanker With Livery Promoting Green D+ HVO

New Era Fuels recently added a new 6x2 DAF CF 340 FAN tanker truck to its fleet. The truck features a special livery promoting Green D+ HVO enhanced Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil, which can dramatically reduce CO2, particulate matter, and NOx emissions. (Photo courtesy of DAF.)

New Era Fuels, a fuel distributor based in Harlow, recently added a new DAF CF 340 FAN tanker truck to its fleet, which already includes a mix of 12-, 18-, and 26-tonne DAF vehicles. This latest addition is a six-wheel 26-t rear-steer truck that features Electro-Hydraulic Steering (EHS), a 20,000-litre COBO tank with Alpeco metering equipment, and Safe System equipment that complies with the Direct Vision Standard set to go into effect in March of next year in London.

Another feature of New Era’s new CF rigid is a Green D+ HVO livery, which promotes the use of enhanced Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil. DAF points out its CF, LF, and XF ranges all have engines that can run on HVO without modification. Green D+ HVO is notable because it can reduce well-to-wheel carbon dioxide emissions by up to 90%, particulate matter by 86%, and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by 30%. DAF supports the use of such fuel types as an alternative to diesel, as they are “helping significantly with the decarbonization of road transport.”

“A Compelling Case For Truck Operators”

“We are delighted that DAF Trucks is sharing a platform with us and making a determined effort to promote HVO,” says Reg Geggus, CEO of New Era Fuels. “As a direct alternative to diesel, it makes for a compelling case for truck operators who wish to make a serious reduction to their carbon footprint. We are 100% behind the drive for the UK to go green, and a wholesale switch to Green D+ HVO would deliver an immediate and significant impact. I urge the government to provide greater incentives for the use of Green D+ HVO and to support industries in their efforts to protect the environment and to address climate change.”

New Era reports that it has six more CF 340s on the way in early 2021.
