In order to help customers keep up with a growing need for last-mile deliveries, Schmitz Cargobull is now allowing maintenance providers in its United Kingdom Service Partner network to assemble M.KO rigid truck bodies in-house. The company will ship panels from its Panevéžys, Lithuania, production facility directly to UK Service Partners for assembly.
This includes models like the M.KO COOL for refrigerated transport and the M.KO EXPRESS box truck body for dry freight transportation, distribution, and more. The truck bodies are available in lengths ranging from 6,060 millimetres “to the maximum permissible length on 12-, 18-, or 26-tonne rigids,” the company explains.
“Last-mile delivery is increasingly important, driving up demand for high-quality rigid truck bodies,” says Geoff Ward, sales engineer for Schmitz Cargobull Truck Bodies. “By expanding our assembly capabilities in the UK through our Service Partner network, we’ll be able to reduce costs and shorten lead times.”
Gradual Expansion
Only a select group of partners will offer assembly services at the start, but that number will increase over time. One such partner is PD Stevens in Shropshire. “Schmitz Cargobull makes exceptionally high-quality rigid bodies and being able to assemble them opens up new opportunities for us, and will help local operators source new trucks far more quickly and economically,” says Greg Stevens, director of PD Stevens.
