Bowker Transport, a warehousing and delivery company based in Preston that was founded in 1919, is celebrating its 100-year anniversary with two new Volvo FH tractors complete with a special centenary livery design incorporating the company’s “unique, cherished registration plates” and a cobalt blue colour scheme. These FH-500 6x2 pusher axle trucks both feature D13K engines that produce 500 horsepower and 2,500 newton metres of torque as well as I-Shift automated 12-speed transmissions. They also have Globetrotter cabs, rear air and front steel suspensions, and RSS1356 drive axles.
Other Standout Features
Bowker Transport’s new FH tractor units have several other features designed for driver safety and comfort, including the Volvo I-See Predictive Cruise Control and Dynamic Steering. Bowker opted for Single Bed and Drive Plus living packages, under-bunk refrigerators with 33-litre capacities, and full leather trim on the steering wheel and seats. On the exterior, both trucks have Alcoa Dura-Bright EVO alloy wheels.
Only The Beginning
“We are extremely proud of our history. We are pleased to introduce a new centenary livery to celebrate a significant milestone for our company,” says Bill Bowker, director at Bowker Group. “Undoubtedly, this is a momentous achievement and makes Bowker one of the oldest road transport companies still operating in the UK today. The new livery is a fitting tribute to our past and indeed the future, which marks the launch of celebrations. We want to thank everyone who has played their part in the Bowker success story and want to make it a year to remember.”
