JPE Holdings recently added a new Volvo FH-500 6x2 tractor unit to its fleet that consists of more than 30 Volvo FM and FMX rigid tipper trucks. The FH-500, which is the company’s first Volvo tractor unit, has a Globetrotter Cab, a 500-horsepower Volvo D13K 13-liter engine, and a 12-speed I-Shift Dual Clutch automated transmission. It also features a pusher axle, RSS1356 rear axle, and a steel bumper for extra protection. The truck tows a Fruehauf tipping trailer and JPE will primarily use it for hauling earth and aggregate materials both locally and over longer distances.
Amenities, Safety Features & Special Meaning
JPE’s FH truck is equipped with Volvo’s Drive Plus and Single Bed Living packages and has an under-bunk refrigerator and freezer unit, satellite navigation, and leather seats. Other features include Vision Technique cameras, in-cab tipping, and on-board weighing systems. JPE had it painted with their livery and added a registration mark of “X10 CPP” in honor of Colin Peter Price, the company’s founder who died in 2017.
Long-Time Customer
All of JPE Holdings’ Volvo trucks take advantage of Volvo’s Dynafleet telematics gateway, which helps the company monitor the general behaviour of its drivers, make sure deliveries are made on time, and ensure its fleet is getting the best possible fuel efficiency. Hartshorne Motor Services supplied its new FH-500, and the dealer is responsible for servicing JPE’s entire fleet. “All of our Volvo trucks are on contract maintenance with Hartshorne Motor Services; we get a fantastic service level from them," says Stephanie Price, transport director at JPE Holdings Ltd. “We've always run Volvos, I find them reliable and well suited to our job.”
