Altitude Scaffolding, which is based in Hull in East Yorkshire, recently bought two new Volvo FE 26-tonne rigid trucks. Altitude has purchased previously owned Volvo FL10 and FL12 models and other trucks in the past, but this is the first time it has made a new heavy vehicle purchase. The company’s FE trucks come with Volvo D8K Euro 6 engines that produce up to 320 horsepower and Volvo 12-speed I-Shift automated transmissions.
Ready For Work
Altitude’s new Volvo FE trucks, which were sold by Peter Atkinson of Crossroads Truck and Bus Limited in Hull, will operate primarily in England, although the company does work throughout the UK and in Ireland on occasion. The vehicles also feature drop-side scaffold bodywork with a length and width of 9,000 mm and 2,550 mm, respectively. Malcom Black, operations manager at Altitude Scaffolding, said in a press release that his drivers are already” over the moon” with the new trucks.
"The 26-tonne Volvo FEs tick a lot of boxes for us. We can deliver enough supplies to keep a team of scaffolders busy for days and the optional third cab seat means we can also move crew members if required," explained Black. “The scaffolding equipment we carry is heavy, but fully-loaded, the FEs will only be operating at around two-thirds of their maximum gross operating weight. This means less wear and tear on the trucks and of course, keeps us right with legal compliance."
For those who want to buy their own Volvo FE model or another similar vehicle, there are hundreds of used Volvo trucks for sale on TruckLocator, including many nearly new Volvo FE trucks.
