7-Tonne IVECO Daily Road Repair Vehicles Make The Dawsongroup Sweepers Team

Dawsongroup Sweepers maintain a rental fleet of more than 1,200 municipal and highway maintenance vehicles and counting, as the firm just added 10 new 7-tonne (7.7-U.S.-ton) IVECO Daily chassis cabs fitted with “hotbox” bodywork designed to dispense fresh tarmac. Dawsongroup Sweepers’ Daily road repair vehicles are already allocated on long-term contracts to local authority and utility sector rental customers.

“Daily 7-tonne range presents a compelling package for our rental user's needs,” says Dawsongroup Sweepers Managing Director Glen Carruthers. “With chassis cabs at 7.2 tonnes GVW, licensing is relatively simple, and we benefit from an impressive payload with a comparatively small overall footprint. The Daily's high levels of specification and HI-MATIC gearbox provide us with a premium customer offering which is versatile, comfortable, and reliable.”

    Mission Ready

“Traditionally, this type of vehicle sits upon a much larger chassis, between 7.5 and 18 tonnes gross,” says IVECO UK Light Business-Line Director Mike Cutts. “However, much of Dawsongroup's customers work is carried out in areas where access can be limited and time is in short supply.”

The Thompsons tipping hotbox bodies are currently being fitted to the IVECO daily vehicles. The 72C18HA8 Daily models are powered by a 180-horsepower (134-kilowatt) F1C diesel engine that delivers 430 newton-metres (317 pounds-foot) of torque, as well as IVECO’s eight-speed HI-MATIC automatic gearbox to simplify operation for rental customers. "With Daily 7-Tonne, we're able to offer operators a far more suitable vehicle that offers just as much punch as its bigger compatriots in terms of payload,” says Cutts.

    High Demand

Based on the immediate booking for the new batch of Daily vehicles, Dawsongroup Sweepers is placing an additional order for caged tippers based on the same IVECO Daily 7-tonne design. The 3,300-kilogram (7,275-pound) towing capacity and overall heavy-duty construction on the Daily range provides an outstanding base for a variety of municipal and highway maintenance applications. Dawsongroup Sweepers also added the Business trimline, providing extra operator comfort with features like electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors, cruise control with speed limiter, and manual air conditioning.
